Journal 7 by Cole

Sierra Leone has very a tropical climate, like many others in Africa. It is very hot all months of the year, with a very dry winter season. In the summer, Sierra Leone receives a lot of rainfall, due to the African monsoon. It is so wet during August, that there is a period called "seven day rainfall". During this period, the rain can fall for seven straight days without any stoppage. Throughout the year, Sierra Leone receives an average of 80-120 inches of rainfall. Depending on the area of the country, temperatures can vary throughout the year. During the winter, the coastline has an average temperature of 72-75 degrees Fahrenheit in the night. The temperature rises to average of 86 degrees during the day. The interior of Sierra Leone can get much warmer during the day. It averages around 90-93 degrees Fahrenheit, and has been known to even reach 100 degrees. In the summer season, temperatures continue to rise throughout the small country, even with the rainfall that begins to come.
